Rankings - top products and top customers
How to use the top products and top customers rankings in Mosce ERP: available metrics, result limits and how to interpret the data.
The rankings reports show, at a glance, which are your best-selling products and your most valuable customers for any period. They are the starting point for catalog decisions, negotiations with key customers and procurement strategies.
Reading time: ~4 min
When to use this
- You want to identify the 10 products that generate the most revenue in the month.
- You need to know which customers have the highest purchase volume to prepare a negotiation meeting.
- You are reviewing the catalog and need to identify the least-sold products.
- You want to prepare a quick commercial performance report for management.
Before you start
- You need the
reports:readpermission. - Rankings use the same inclusion criteria as the sales report (accrual basis, issued invoices - see Sales report).
- Downloading as CSV or PDF consumes one export from your monthly quota. See Usage limits.
Top products
Available metrics
The top products ranking can be sorted by two metrics:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Revenue | Sum of the total invoiced for that product in the period (price × quantity − discounts). Default. |
| Units sold | Sum of the invoiced quantities of the product in the period. |
Both metrics produce different rankings - a low-price, high-volume product may rank first by units but lower by revenue.
Result limits
- The ranking shows 10 results by default.
- You can increase it up to a maximum of 50 results using the quantity selector in the header.
- Ties (when two products have exactly the same metric value) are broken by the alphabetical order of the product name.
Top customers
Available metrics
The top customers ranking can be sorted by:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Revenue | Sum of the total invoiced to that customer in the period. Default. |
| Number of invoices | Number of invoices issued to the customer in the period. |
A customer with few high-value invoices will lead by revenue but may rank low by number of invoices - and vice versa.
Result limits
- The ranking shows 10 results by default.
- You can increase it up to a maximum of 50 results.
- Ties are broken by the customer name in alphabetical order.
How the ranking is calculated
- Mosce ERP filters all invoices issued in the selected date range.
- It groups by product or customer according to the ranking consulted.
- It sums the selected metric for each group.
- It sorts from highest to lowest.
- It returns the first N results (10 by default, up to 50).
The ranking is not a cumulative historical one - each time you select a different date range, the ranking is recalculated for that period.
Common errors
| Symptom | Likely cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| A product you sell a lot does not appear in the ranking | The sales may be in the period before the one selected | Widen the date range |
| The top 10 revenue does not add up to total sales | The top 10 is only a sample, not the total | The ranking shows the first N, not the full sum |
| The same customer appears under two different names | There are two customer records for the same company | Consolidate the customers from Sales → Customers |
Frequently asked questions
Can I see a ranking of the worst products (the ones that sell least)?
Currently the ranking is fixed in descending order (highest to lowest). To see the lowest performers, download the CSV with the maximum of 50 results and sort manually in a spreadsheet.
Do the rankings include quotes or unbilled orders?
No. Only invoices issued in the period are included, with the same criteria as the sales report.
Does the customer ranking include unnamed final consumers?
If your catalog has a generic "Final Consumer" customer, its invoices are grouped under that name and it may appear in the ranking if the accumulated volume is high.
Can I filter the ranking by product category?
Not directly from the ranking view. For analysis by category, use the sales report by product and filter the downloaded CSV by the category you need.
